Understanding Your Pelvic Floor: Assessment & Consultation
At The Pelvic Therapy Suite, we bring something unique to pelvic floor support, a blend of lived experience, genuine understanding and a thoughtful, safety‑led approach. Pelvic floor symptoms can be uncomfortable, isolating and sometimes difficult to talk about and we know this because we’ve been through it ourselves. That personal insight shapes the way we support every client.

Our Pelvic Health & Symptom Screening Pre‑Consultation Questionnaire has been carefully developed to screen for all major patterns of pelvic floor dysfunction. It is a comprehensive, non‑invasive assessment tool designed to ensure your treatment is always safe, appropriate, and tailored to your individual needs.

You receive the questionnaire at the point of booking, allowing you to complete it privately and in your own time. All information you share is treated with complete confidentiality and is only reviewed by our practitioners. We never perform internal examinations, your assessment is entirely question‑based, fully clothed, and designed to protect your comfort and dignity at every stage.

Once submitted, your responses are reviewed in detail before your consultation. This allows us to thoroughly screen for stress incontinence, urge incontinence, mixed incontinence, vaginal prolapse symptoms, postpartum pelvic floor weakness, dysmenorrhoea, hypotonic pelvic floor, hypertonic pelvic floor, erectile dysfunction, and how pelvic floor dysfunction may be affecting your day‑to‑day life.

During your consultation, your practitioner will take time to explain what the pelvic floor is, how it works, and why it plays such an important role in bladder, bowel, core and sexual health. We then summarise the findings from your assessment in clear, simple language and give you plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

This level of screening sets our service apart. It ensures we never apply strengthening programmes to a pelvic floor that is already tight or overactive, and we only recommend treatment pathways that genuinely support your symptoms and goals.

Using your assessment results, we design a fully individualised session plan, including the recommended number of sessions, the most suitable treatment programme, and the correct intensity settings for your pelvic floor needs.

Throughout your course, we track your progress at every session to ensure expectations remain clear, consistent, and supported.
Many clients begin to notice improvements quickly, while others may take up to six weeks to feel the full benefits, especially if symptoms have been persistent or present for several years.
Every pelvic floor is different, and your programme is tailored to help you progress safely and confidently at your own pace.
